Images and pictures from the famous 706 metre Corcovado mountain, named after its hunchback appearance, on which its summit is the iconic Cristo Redentor statue, Christ the Redeemer. Cristo Redentor can been see throughout the city of Rio de Janeiro as it towers over the city. Cristo Redentor is the most well known landmark of Brasil and was created in 1931 to mark the centenary of Brasil’s independence. The statue is surrounding by the Parque Nacional da Tijuca.
