Sambodromo

Sambodromo

The Sambodromo, Sambadrome da Marquês de Sapucaí, is a parade area found in the downtown are of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the sole purpose of the Carnival. The Sambodromo is where the samba schools parade each year during the competition at Carnival. The Sambodromo was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and built in 1984, and is a 700 meter stretch with spectators on each side. The capacity is for 90,000 people.

Santos is the largest seaport of Latin America, where coffee, steel, oil, cars, cotton and fruits are exported. Moreover, it is home to the famous football player, Pele!

The city is capital of the State of São Paulo, and is the financial hub of Brazil, being Brazil's richest city. São Paulo is well known for its commerce and finance, arts and entertainment, famous landmarks and diverse ethnicities. São Paulo also is great for shopping. The city is an endless view of skyrise buildings!

Sugarloaf Mountain is a mountainous peak found in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sugarloaf mountain is found in the mouth of Guanabara Bay within a peninsula facing the Atlantic Ocean. The mountain has a height of 396 metres and its name comes from its resemblance to a concentrated refined loaf of sugar. Sugarloaf is just one of the many monolithic morros of granite and quartz found within Rio de Janeiro. There are many of these which make the landscape of the city breathtaking!

Traveling through Brazil is easy with a good GPS and map. The roads are very well taken care of and gas prices are constant at around $0.75 US a liter. Speaking Portuguese can help if you get lost for directions, as most people do not speak any English.
