The Sambodromo is a parade area found in the downtown are of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the sole purpose of the Carnival. The Sambodromo is where the samba schools parade each year during the competition at Carnival. The Sambodromo was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and built in 1984, and is a 700 meter stretch with spectators on each side. The capacity is for 90,000 people.
